While I was Listening is a book that looks at the needs of feminist movements and the champions and organizations that are behind them. We know that everyday women start and sustain modern social movements like Black Lives Matter, Me Too, Mi Unas Menos, etc. But we only hear about these women and their work in very limited ways. This book will look back at popular and not so popular social movements and the women behind them. It will highlight what made these social movements effective and will pinpoint what steps businesses, nonprofits, and social impact professionals can take to replicate that same success on a grander scale. This book will confirm that the most important grassroots movements in social justice have made the most profound change in modern history - right from their doorsteps. Most importantly, it will also provide readers with lessons learned from the movement and clear suggestions on how they too can make change happen.
